JUNGMIN JOO

ABOUT ARTIST JOO JUNG MIN A world of plants comes to life in varied colors in Joo Jung Min’s artwork. Joo captured the changing color of life, seasons, and of emotions of being with someone, in a mysterious colossal world of imaginative nature. The artist’s forest becomes the viewer’s forest as it reminds us that we, humans, in the end, belong to nature. The imaginative forest and its plants are recreated in a collage, in which each pieces are drawn, cut, and attached one by one by the artist herself. This collage takes on another form of life in her media art, with the forests changing and moving with serene background audio, more temptingly drawing in the viewer to experience the nature’s mystic. Breaking the...

GWANGMIN LEE

ABOUT ARTIST LEE GWANG MIN The artist imagines how this different scene can merge harmoniously. She combines these two images, by expressing through dynamic gesture and straight lines from the object and surroundings. These two contrary scenes always exist in our life harmoniously. This work shows the coexistence of hidden and revealed space while exhibiting an imaginary space which can't be experienced in our physical world. SHINYOUNG PARK

ABOUT ARTIST PARK SHIN YOUNG My prints represent the unique characteristics of today’s Singaporean society. To me, the most fascinating aspect of Singapore is its multi-cultural and eclectic society: diverse but not divided, busy yet orderly, where the best of both Eastern and Western worlds coexist. Through Ring of Chaos #, I want to capture these aspects of Singapore in tangling overlaid images which represent diverse ethnicity, culture, and custom, as well as the dynamic and busy lifestyle, over-crowdedness, and the equatorial climate of Singapore. In the Pearl of the Orient #11, the opaque white wash with cutout circles is used to highlight the systematic, orderly and clean city. It seems like dynamic characters and energies from various cultures are prospering inside of a perfect...

HAIYUN JUNG

ABOUT ARTIST JUNG HAI YUN Since I was little, I have had drawers in my desk. In each drawer I organized each object by its characteristics. It is like assigning a position for each object. The similarity of objects is decided by their size, usage or importance. All immaterial and material objects that exist in the world have their own place for their characteristics, and even the ambiguous objects can be created by the user as a new group by means of their roles and usage. I keep searching for the meaning of the individual and the whole in diverse areas by expressing the abstract meaning of the memory collection through drawers or vessels. I have been interested in and working on assembling a manifold...

SOOYEON HONG

ABOUT ARTIST HONG SOO YEON Life is on a continuum Objects settled in the Soo-Yeon Hong’s works do not posess a distinctive form. Therefore, the monochrome side that fills the whole frame catches our eyes first. About the time we are immersed in the solitude emitted from the monochrome side, the delicate tremble that shakes the tranquility is captured. Although that something which cannot be labeled seems like a crystallized image because it does not have a form, it shows its afterimage at the very next minute. The contour of the image is not fixed but slides into the mysterious moment between segments. However, the working method of Soo-Yeon Hong is the opposite. Rather, it progresses with thorough calculation and intention. The calculated slope of...

SANGNAM PARK

ABOUT ARTIST PARK SANG NAM Artworks of Sang Nam Park express roads of city dwellers through duplex screens involving both abstract and figuration. His work can be categorized as an abstract painting in that the work simply lists crude elements of dot, line, and plane, but also as a figurative painting in that it actively tries to reveal a specific subject and the stories relating to the subject. The subject that the artist is actively pursuing to reveal is something that is too common in the city for proper attention: road. Through cracks and scratches naturally formed in asphalt road with passage of time, the artist intends to tell a story of an individual or city people in general about their lives, symbolized by traces...
